We are Yachats’ Local Land trust. We preserve, protect, and enhance the natural environment through collaborative actions for scientific, educational, recreational, cultural, and economic goals that benefit the Yachats community and its future generations.” View the Future (VfT) is committed to honoring and sustaining the local cultural and historical heritage that define our community by working to protect and celebrate our cultural legacy, ensuring it endures for future generations. Aligned with View the Future’s mission, we collaborate with the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians and the Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua, and Siuslaw Indians, descendants of this region’s first people. Each tribe’s historical truth is distinct, and so are their Land Acknowledgments. Together, with the Tribes, we collaborate on our annual Peace Hike Gathering serving as a solemn remembrance of those who came before us and a recognition of the resilience of their descendants. In partnership with the City of Yachats, Lincoln County and private Land owners, we seek to protect lands in perpetuity through conservation easements. We also work collaboratively with various agencies on the creation of recreational capital projects such as the Oregon Coast Trail Walkway project and the Amanda Trail Suspension Bridge.
