Habitat for Humanity of Lincoln County (HFHLC) brings people together to build homes, community and hope. Our vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
We work toward our vision by building strength, stability and self-reliance in partnership with families in need of decent and affordable housing. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage.
When a family owns their home, they experience increased stability and greater success in other areas of their lives. Research shows that Habitat homeowners enjoy better health, higher levels of education, and more career opportunities than other low-income families. The impact is multi-generational. Children of Habitat homeowners often thrive in their new, stable environment, experiencing less anxiety and doing better in school.
We also provide home repairs for low-income families, focusing on safety, accessibility, and home preservation. Clients pay a portion of material costs, with a sliding scale based on income.
We engage with volunteers and secure donated or discounted materials and services whenever possible. This helps us keep costs low and maximize the benefit of donor support.
Our ReStores in Newport and Lincoln City perform a valuable community service by diverting large amounts of reusable materials from landfills, and providing these products to the public at a fraction of the cost.
